Our story so far
From a desk to a studio
Cozyleigh grew slowly, one piece at a time: from a desk on YouTube, to a home full of desk mats, to a studio we built by hand. Here's how we got here.

A warm desk
A warm, cozy desk in a cool, techy world, shared on YouTube for the first time.

A warm desk in a cool industry
Maisy, then a software engineer and designer, filmed her work-from-home desk in warm, cozy colors, a soft corner in a cool, techy world. Nearly two million people watched, and the cozy desk setup was born. On the side, she ran a small Etsy shop of the digital planners, wallpapers and app icons she designed.

The Clementine speaker
Our first piece made by all three of us. Maisy had the idea: a portable speaker shaped like Clementine, one of Ash's Chubby Fruits characters. Tristan engineered it, from the 3D-printed shell to the electronics inside, and Ash brought her character to life with paint. An idea, art and engineering, together for the first time.

A new beginning
After losing our mom, Maisy left her job to start again. She made a promise to live with purpose and no regrets, built herself a warm place to heal, and began blending design and code into things we could make together.

A promise to herself
After the hardest months of her life, Maisy spent that spring healing and finding ways to live again. Spring had always been her favorite season, and this one felt like a new beginning. So she made a promise to herself on camera: to live with purpose and balance it with happiness, to take risks she never would have taken before, and to look back one day with no regrets.

Making life warm again
Two months after losing their mom, Maisy left software engineering to make YouTube her full-time work. She came back by building herself a cozy haven: a corner for tea and quiet, tulips on her desk to remind her to appreciate the little things, and a shelf of pieces we'd made by hand. It was her way of coping and making life feel warm again, and the start of a new path for her and her family.

Design & code with me
Maisy's dream was to blend her two loves, design and engineering, and make cool things with them. Code hadn't clicked for her at first. It did once she saw it could bring her designs to life and, in her words, leave a positive impact on at least one person's life. In her Design & Code With Me series she finally built maisyleigh.com, a site she'd been waiting two years to bring to life, from the first moodboard to the finished code.

Helping Ash share her art
Maisy had promised their mom that Ash would one day open her own art shop, and she made it her mission to help Ash share her art with the world. Together they built the MySweetChubs portfolio and shop site as a little world of its own, where you follow Ellie, the character Ash drew as herself, setting out on her journey as an artist. Ash's illustrations became the wallpapers on Maisy's desk and phone, so everyone watching met Ash's art too.

The cozy desk, settled
The 2021 desk tour: a maple standing desk, warm earth tones, plants and soft pastels. Maisy wanted a space she was really excited to sit down at every day, warm enough after dark to keep her inspired to create. A little Gantri globe lamp already glowed on the shelf, two years before we'd make a light with them. Almost half a million people came along.

Wistful Orchids
Our first idea of working together: a cozy pixel art video game. Ash dreamed up the world and drew every character, frame by frame and facing all four directions. Maisy was the main designer, and Tristan engineered and coded it with her. It was the first game any of us had made, and we were so excited to share it from the very first level.

Why cozy
People kept asking Maisy why she lives such a cozy life. Her answer: when life spins out of control, you put your energy into the things you can control. She'd started her channel to have one place where she could be free and as creative as she wanted, and making her space warm reminded her to appreciate the little things, and that small changes can add up to a brighter future.

Tristan's printer
Tristan, an engineer, had taken up 3D printing as a hobby. He tinkered with and calibrated his first printer until every print came out just right. His little workshop corner showed up on camera for the first time, and building things together became part of the story.

CozyChubs candles
Maisy and Ashleigh started CozyChubs, a little brand built around Ash's Fruit Chubs, the first characters she ever created and, in Maisy's words, "so Ashleigh". They designed and poured fruit-scented candles to match, our first try at making something to share with you, before Cozyleigh began.

A desk for real life
Most desk tours only show the finished desk. Maisy's 2022 tour started with a messy one, dirty cups and all, because a hard week shows up on your desk too. Then she cleared it, wiped it down and gave everything a home again. Over six hundred thousand people watched.

Made at home
We moved from the digital space into the physical one. Cozyleigh started as a business in our home: a workshop in the basement, desk mats stacked across the family room, and three 3D printers that became eighteen.

Cozyleigh begins
We wanted to make things you could actually hold, so we moved from the digital space into the physical one, and Cozyleigh Studios began as a business in our home. It started with our first-ever product, the Pro Desk Mat, inspired by a Zen garden: a calm, blank slate, like raked sand, for the few things you choose to place on it. Two mats in one, natural linoleum on one side and soft wool on the other, made by hand in our basement workshop over three months, with mats stacked across the family room. Pre-orders opened September 19.

Our first launch
The first desk mats left our home just before the holidays, after months of work. Every one was made by the three of us, from cutting the raw materials to finishing, with Dad helping to polish. Maisy packed them all by hand over three days, and we thought of them as a gift from our family to yours.

A step back
Maisy had been trying to make videos, design products and run a family business all at once, and it started to take the fun out of everything. So she stepped back to focus on what she loves most, making things with her hands. That same month, we walked into an empty grey room that became our studio.

Why we started
After six months away, Maisy came back to YouTube with a letter to her mom, and the story behind all of this: keeping our family close, building something together, and making spaces that feel like home. As she put it, we're not mass producing. We're a family, and every piece goes from our hands to your home.

A studio built around a compass
We designed the studio the way old feng shui and Japanese tea houses do, with each direction holding its own energy. The east, where you walk in, is for beginnings: a place to leave your stress at the door. The south is light and expression. The north is focus, where our desks sit side by side. And the west is for making, the workshop where everything comes full circle.

Making the space feel like home
That spring we slowed right down. Maisy settled into a new desk corner, and we built shoji doors for the woodshop from bare wood and rice glue, the first big thing we'd made by hand in wood. In her words, "I think I'm finally starting to feel like myself again."

The Fa Stackable Trinket Tray
Fa (花) means flower in Cantonese. The four-petal shape comes from Chinese design, the lip of the lid from a gaiwan, and the way the trays stack from a bamboo dumpling steamer. We first shared the idea of stackable trinket trays back in 2022.

With our summer drop, Maisy started designing and printing a card for every drop here in the studio, each with one of Ash's illustrations, and stamping each one by hand with the Chinese seal she brought home from China in 2017. In Asian art, a seal is how the maker leaves their mark.
