Painting a little peace into every box
Hi, it's Ash.
I'm the artist here at Cozyleigh. I draw our stickers, the artwork on our cards and the little drawings you see on our Instagram. So basically, anything art related, I probably drew. I wanted to share a little about the illustration I painted for our first Wood Collection, because you might have one of those cards at home.
Maisy and I usually start by talking about the feeling she has in mind for a piece. Then we figure out together what I could paint to go with it. For the Wood Collection, I hand-painted the artwork for the care card that goes in the box. I really liked working in this style because it's quite abstract and peaceful looking.
The part where it starts to come together
After painting, I go back in with my dry brush pen to add shadows. That's what gives the drawing more dimension. I'll add a layer and look at it again, and that's usually when I think, okay, now that looks a lot better.
Once the illustration is ready, Maisy designs the card around it and prints it here in the studio. Seeing it on the finished card is different from looking at the artwork on its own. When this one came together, she said it looked so cute and felt right for the collection. I hoped it would bring a little of that peaceful feeling to you when you opened the box, too.
My art outside the box
I also have my own art label, MySweetChubs. That's where my digital wallpapers and art prints live, including Zen Flower Shop and the Rural Life series. Rural Life has a version for every season, so you can change the scene on your screen as the year goes along.
I've been spending more of my time on Cozyleigh lately, but MySweetChubs is still my own little corner. Some of my drawings end up on your screens or walls, and others become part of the packaging for something we've made together here.

That's something I really like about drawing for Cozyleigh. The artwork goes into a box with a piece Maisy designed and all three of us worked on, and then it ends up with you. It's nice knowing the drawing gets to be part of that, even if it's just a small card tucked beside your tray.
If you have one of my prints up at home or use a wallpaper on your screen, you can tag @mysweetchubs. I'd love to see where it's ended up. Thanks for making a little room for my art.
