How to Build a Cozy Desk Setup in 3 Steps (The Cozyleigh Way)

Hi friends, Maisy here.

When I'm putting a desk setup together, I think about how I want to use it as much as how I want it to look. I'll be spending a lot of time there, so I want the things I reach for to have somewhere to go, and I want to enjoy sitting down at it.

If you're figuring out your own setup, here's the order I'd start in. You don't need to change everything at once. It helps to work on one part, use it for a while and see what you still need.

1. Start with your surface

A desk mat gives me a place to arrange the things I use most. I like how it frames that part of the desk, and choosing its color gives me somewhere to start with the rest of the setup.

I use the Cozyleigh Pro Desk Mat, which has linoleum on one side and wool on the other. Its metal layer lets our Zen MagSafe Charger Stand, puck and Fa Trinket Tray snap onto it. If you'd rather put those pieces together on a smaller surface you can move, the Zen Tray works as a base, too.

2. Make room for what you use

Next, I'd think about what you keep reaching for during the day. For me, having a place to charge my phone is useful, so that's where the Zen MagSafe Charger Stand comes in. A Fa Trinket Tray gives smaller things, like a ring or hair clip, somewhere to sit instead of getting lost around the keyboard.

The stand and Fa tray snap onto the Pro Desk Mat or Zen Tray, so you can choose where they sit. I like trying colors and textures together, but I wouldn't add something just to fill a space. Start with what would actually be helpful on your desk.

3. Bring in something you enjoy looking at

Your screen is part of the setup, too. I love having Ash's illustrations on mine. She draws our digital wallpapers as MySweetChubs, and they bring her art into a part of the desk I look at all day.

Changing a wallpaper is a small thing, but it's a nice way to try a different color palette or bring a new season into your space without rearranging everything.

Once those parts are in place, give yourself time to use the setup. You might find that something needs to move, or that you don't need as much on the desk as you thought. It doesn't have to look finished in one afternoon to be somewhere you enjoy working.

If you'd like to see the pieces together, you can browse the Cozyleigh Ecosystem. I hope this gives you somewhere to begin, whether you're changing one corner or starting a whole new setup.
