Which Charger Goes in the Zen MagSafe Charger Stand? A Simple Setup Guide

One question we get about the Zen MagSafe Charger Stand is which charger goes inside it. I wanted to put the answer here, along with what comes in the box, so you know what you'll need before yours arrives.

The stand holds an Apple MagSafe Charger, which is sold separately. Our stand gives it an upright place on your desk; it isn't a charger on its own.

The charger you'll need

We designed the stand around Apple's own MagSafe Charger, the round magnetic charger with a cable. Third-party chargers can differ in shape and size, even when they're described as MagSafe-compatible, so we can't promise they'll fit.

If you're unsure about the charger you already have, write to us with its model before ordering. That will give us something specific to check rather than asking you to guess from a photo.

What comes in your box

• The Zen MagSafe Charger Stand
• Our puck, which holds your MagSafe Charger and sits in the stand
• A small pop-out tool for removing the charger

You'll need to supply the Apple MagSafe Charger and a suitable USB-C power adapter. Our stand welcome page has a short video showing how to put it together.

Your phone, case and adapter

Check that your particular phone supports MagSafe and is compatible with the Apple charger you're using. A newer model name by itself isn't enough to establish that. Charging speed and adapter requirements also depend on the charger and phone combination, so follow the instructions for your Apple MagSafe Charger when choosing an adapter.

If you use a case, check that it's compatible with MagSafe charging. If it has an unusual shape, a large attachment or anything you're unsure will clear the stand, please ask us before ordering. I'd rather help you check your setup than tell you every case will fit.

Keep cards, key fobs and ID badges out from between the phone and charger, and follow the charger's safety instructions. For another charging spot without an upright stand, you can also look at our Zen MagSafe Charger Puck, which holds a charger on its own.

Where the stand fits in

We print and finish the stands here in our studio. The weight inside helps the stand sit steadily, and its magnets let it snap onto our Pro Desk Mat or Zen Tray. It can also be used on its own.
